How to Choose Plus Size Women's Dresses

Selecting the correct dress size can be challenging to any woman, but this task is especially daunting to the plus size woman. More than 65 percent of all women in the United States wear at least a size 12 dress, but strangely enough, most clothes are made for the small woman.

It is frustrating to locate the perfect dress to wear to that next important occasion, and not being able to find anything is stressful and disheartening. When you finally set your eyes on the perfect dress and then discover that it comes in small sizes only, you may feel like giving up.

Here are a few tips and hints to help you find the perfect plus size dress. If you get this right, you are going to look beautiful, comfortable and stylish.

Often, when shopping for any clothing, price is a main consideration. Begin your search at stores that you know you can afford in the first place. Rule out the high-end department stores if you cannot or will not be willing to dish out a couple of hundred dollars on a single dress. The same applies if you are going to be shopping online.

If you have a large tummy, again, an empire line dress is ideal as is an A-line style. These dresses create curves and put the attention on your waist.

Of course, the most important thing to remember when selecting a plus size dress is that you have to feel comfortable. No matter how pretty the dress may be, if you feel less than 100% comfortable, the whole selection process was in vain.
